I have a child with allergies so I am very sensitive to the plight of moms who fight for action on behalf of their children’s allergies. I am very fortunate that my child’s allergy is not a food allergy and I sympathize with those parents and children who have to monitor very closely what they eat as for some it could really be a life or death situation.
I have encountered some not so nice people when trying to protect my child from his allergens. He happens to be highly allergic to man’s best friend. Some people will defend their right to do what they want even if it harms others. I have certainly seen that with the peanut allergies. I have seen parents be upset because special provisions had to be made when bringing treats to their child’s school, or they had to adjust their child’s lunch due to allergy restrictions. I choose to believe that most people who don’t have allergies or a loved one with allergies are only this way due to lack of knowledge. At least that is my hope. I hope that by participating in and spread the word on the Teal Pumpkin project we can have a more understanding environment.
Due to the sensitivity of information surrounding allergies the verbage must not be changed, altered, or picked apart. In other words I have to copy and paste as is. I hope that you will take the pledge!
